Stuffed already? Do you need to put your kiddo on a sensory diet for Thanksgiving? Don’t worry! We are not talking about food! Thanksgiving is prime for high stimulation with family members coming in and out, driving more than normal, lots of cooking smells, etc.
A sensory diet in the pediatric therapy world is a group of activities that are specifically scheduled into a child’s day to assist with attention and adaptive responses. It's designed to keep a flow of neuro-chemicals steady in the brain for improved learning meanwhile keeping the stimulation consistent throughout the day.
As you enjoy eating and relaxing have some fun with your kiddo and try out these little bursts of exercises every 2 hours or so!
Hopefully this will help keep the sensory levels low and it will be a fun break in the day. We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and we look forward to seeing our kiddos next week!
